The collection contains the Annual report of the Department Historian, Department of Virginia, United States Spanish War Veterans, 1937, written by MacClenny. Also an anti-Franklin D. Roosevelt poem titled "Rejected; and a humorous address "Man born of woman" composed of rewritten familiar Biblical quotes. Also two newsclippings, n.d., one concerning the first school for African Americans in Washington, D. C. and the other a funeral notice, ca. 1911, for a Joseph H. Duck of Isle of Wight County the son of "Major H. Duck, who took part in Nat's War 80 years ago in Southampton County."

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882, in Hyde Park, New York. He was the son of James (lawyer, financier) and Sara (Delano) Roosevelt. He married Anna Eleanor Roosevelt on March 17, 1905, and had six children: Anna, James, Franklin, Elliott, Franklin Jr., John. He received his B.A. from Harvard in 1904 and later attended Columbia University Law School. Roosevelt was admitted to the Bar in 1907 and worked for the Carter, Ledyard, and Milburn firm in New York City from 1907 to 19...
